On Friday, April 3rd, Michael Avery, one of the nation’s leading Constitutional law scholars and author of the recent We Dissent, will visit Eagle Hill School. The event, produced by EHS’s own Brad Weinstein, will feature an interview of Professor Avery lead by Max Schaeffer. After the event, students will be able to get copies of We Dissent signed by the author.
The book, which has been “flying off the shelves” here at EHS, is a collection of essays critical of the nineteen-year period of the Supreme Court that was under the leadership of Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Students reading the book will be challenged by arguments in a variety of areas where the contributors claim the Court has failed to uphold civil rights and liberties. The event promises to be an exciting conversation about the role of the Supreme Court in American society.
