Getting Played – A Finalist for a Major Award

The Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP) grants the C. Wright Mills award to one book annually that demonstrates dedication to a search for a sophisticated understanding of the individual and society. This year, Jody Miller’s Getting Played: African American Girls, Urban Inequality and Gendered Violence, is one of five finalist, out of almost 100 books nominated. Congrats to Jody and her editor here at the press, Ilene Kalish. Look for author, editor and book to be at the ASA conference in San Francisco this August.
