Victor Rios: From gang member to PhD

Yesterday, PBS NewsHour featured a fantastic piece on Victors Rios, author of Punished: Policing the Lives of Black and Latino Boys and former gang member/high school dropout. The video below chronicles the inspiring transformation of Rios’ life, as he went from fighting on the streets with rival gangs to earning a doctorate from Berkeley. Now a sociology professor at UC Santa Barbara, Rios studies and mentors at-risk youth and has written two books on his own life and juvenile delinquency.

Today at 1:30 pm ET, join a live webchat with Victor Rios on dropouts and delinquents. You can also tweet your questions to @NewsHourAmGrad using the hashtag #AmGrad.
